UNITED STATES · OFFICIAL NHTSA SOURCES

VIN-guided US safety research

Enter a US VIN once to identify the manufacturer-reported model, then choose individual, official model-level safety searches. These are not a vehicle-history report and do not confirm open recalls for the specific VIN.

1. Identify the model

The VIN is sent to NHTSA for decoding but is not stored in an AutoVINCheck account, session or database. Model/year/make are held only in this browser session for up to 15 minutes. Do not enter someone else’s information without permission.

What this does not check

No accidents, title brands, stolen reports, previous owners, finance liens, insurance claims, mileage or recall-repair completion.

Model-level campaigns may apply only to certain VIN ranges; consumer complaints are allegations; crash-test results apply to specific tested variants.

Check specific VIN recalls directly at NHTSA.

Data sources: NHTSA vPIC and NHTSA safety datasets. Model-level results cannot establish a vehicle’s individual history or current safety.
